Silent Space
As a game designer and programmer on this game, I tried to overcome many technical hurdles. Just like the protagonist overcomes deathly hurdles. Game design is a metroidvania.
N3-VR (Never)
As the Creative Lead on N3-VR, I wrote the script for this game and provided guidance on the overall “vision” of this project. In addition, I did the level design for the Central Control Hub, corridor mazes, and the Cryopod Bay. N3-VR was made for the Global Game Jam 2022.
The Monster’s Not Real, Maggie
Originally created for Brackey's Game Jame 2022.1 but sadly never submitted, The Monster's Not Real, Maggie is a horror game that makes you use your senses to figure out how much danger you really are in.
Melody of the Deep
Created in Twine, Melody of the Deep is a piece of interactive fiction about a young girl who really wants to fall asleep but just cannot. There’s nothing sinister about it. Nope.
A Rail Shooter Prototype
Made over the course of three afternoons, this game is an attempt to re-create the feel of Starfox games. It is technically a roguelike? I mean, the level is procedurally generated. So, this is infinitely replayable.
Greed
Most of my game design experience is TTRPG based; however, I have also done game design work on a video game too. We made Greed as part of Montreal’s Global Game Jam 2021. The main idea was: What would happen if you got locked in a dungeon after it was already pillaged?
William’s Shootables
This is probably the least polished game I have on here. However, it was a great learning experience for me. It’s a 2D platformer-shooter where the protagonist must shoot red boxes.
Radiant Night
This TTRPG campaign takes place in Shin-DTR, a new neighbourhood that I have added to Cyberpunk Red’s Night City. It tells the story of four edgerunners, who find themselves in the middle of a conflict they really don’t care about. The entires you see here are session recaps written diegetically.
Bad Blood
An original campaign that takes place in the world of Athean, a setting I had created in a notebook back in eighth grade. I had intended for the lore to be completely unique and my own, but my players wanted to bring in elements from the existing Dungeons & Dragons universe. Who was I to say no?
Yee-haw
A new Dungeons & Dragons campaign featuring sci-fi cowboys.
Allwhere
A new Dungeons & Dragons campaign claiming to be Soulslike.
The Covenant
An earlier, different version of Athean is where The Covenant takes place. A mysterious Blade finds itself in the hands of some inexperienced adventurers. There is at least one weird puzzle, some time travel (I’m sorry), and sacrifice.
Game Design Thoughts
This blog is mostly so that I don’t forget what I thought about and liked in games I’ve played. They are less thoughtful case analyses and more gut-feeling reactions. If that makes sense.
Experiments
The Christmas Episode
All the cool kids have Christmas episodes. This one was run as part of Bad Blood in 2018. (I think?)
The Blade Running
A prototypical first mission that I ran both in Bad Blood and The Covenant.
The Redbrand Hideout
Even when I run pre-made campaigns, I try to add my own flair to them. These are my notes that I have taken while running the “Redbrand Hideout” section of the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure by Wizards of the Coast.
Phandelver Trilogy
Phandelver trilogy is my first attempt at re-writing my D&D sessions as long narratives. I asked myself, what would our sessions looked like if they were chapters in a book? The result was these three blog posts. These are also the first sessions we held with my current playgroup.
The Royals: A Bad Blood Adventure
This abandoned primer would have created a side-campaign in Bad Blood, the players of which would eventually become villains in the main campaign. It didn’t pan out, because the players didn’t like the idea of playing D&D online. (Weird how we could choose between online and in-person back then, huh?)
Athean, in Space
I always wanted to run a sci-fi themed campaign. I managed to experiment with it a little when my playgroup and I tried some ad-lib Lasers & Feelings, but I digress. This particular text sets up Bad Blood, but makes it take place in a sci-fi setting!
