17. Lazarus Lost
Seamus is missing. He hasn’t returned my calls and when I checked his apartment he wasn’t there. I had to break the dang door to get in and check. It seems like he hasn’t been home since at least a couple of days ago. I don’t like it.
The idiot seems to have been investigating a series of seemingly unconnected fronts all around Shin-DTR and Westbrook. It makes no sense why he thinks these operations are related to each other. Here’s what I know: There is nothing that ties these businesses together. Corner shops, laundromats, a bunch of noodle shops even. Their owners aren’t of any particular nationality or of any gang affiliation or like I don’t even think they know each other. Yet still, they all push the same product. They refuse to talk, they refuse to cooperate.
Any other cop would’ve just busted those one by one, but Seamus seems convinced that there is a bigger story here. The idiot should’ve let it go.
But now I’m panicking even more, because the gang is involved and they’re looking for Seamus too. I don’t think they mean any harm, but I also don’t really know what exactly it is they want. They mentioned something called an “equestrian birthday,” which I honestly stopped questioning because it just isn’t worth the effort really. I also tried lying to them and saying that this was my apartment, but alas they saw right through my disguise.
So I explained all I know to them. Alvin tried to come to his own conclusions by perusing the files on Seamus’s computer, but I think he deleted a bunch of files. Edge seemed to be very out of it too, he just stood there, and I think there’s some… cyber stuff going on in that head of his.
Now, if Seamus is as smart as I know him to be, he will have prepared a little black pill or a black box. And if he doesn’t check in with the pill in time, all that info that he has dug up will be leaked to the authorities and it will cause a whole heap of trouble. I suspect this wouldn’t please the gang’s employer, whomever they might be, either. (PS: Who is the Poet Lady?)
Jimmy managed to trace some IP information of one of Seamus’s contacts though. The contact’s alias is Chops and I don’t know who they are. Never heard of them. But the geolocation was in Watson and that means Maelstroms.
