16. Aggressive Diplomacy
My little adventurers have begun their first mission for me and it fills me with so much joy. Of course, they are in it for the money, but that does not bother me. I enjoy a good entrepreneur trying to make a living. I appreciate the hustle, the guts, the grime.
I made them three offers and they went with the one that I have preferred to call Aggressive Diplomacy. I might need to find some others to deal with my other ongoing problems. Obviously. I cannot wait for them to finish one job before I deal with my other problems, that would be preposterous. Imagine?
Officer Lazarus of Precinct 55-13 deals mostly with corpo crimes, which is to say the officers there have a lot of free time on their hands. It is this circumstance that has led Lazarus into my domain. Unfortunate really. Inevitably, there are still cops in this hell we call home that cling to virtues that do not belong. Not that cops ever held any virtues to begin with, but that’s irrelevant.
As I explained, Lazarus has been bothering my contacts in the chemical substance re-distribution business. So far, no one has spoken, but I fear some might break soon. Just to get this gnat out of their faces. That would be unfortunate, because I would, of course, have to tie up any loose ends. I do not wish to do this, I would like to trust my contacts and I would like to protect them, especially from my own wrath.
And no, I do not believe that I have deceived them, because I have not. As I said though, I am a lover of knowledge and information. You could say it is my business. So, of course, I’m intrigued by these… experimental weapons my little adventurers have in their possession. I sure hope they don’t have to use them while under my employ, but I cannot deny that I am… curious to see how these weapons function.
I should perhaps get into contact with this Dan’ica Patrick person. She seems well connected. How embarrassing that I do not have an ex-cop contact while my dear Edge does. I appreciate the details she has provided regarding Lazarus. Seamus eh, what a lovely name. I sure hope we can end all of this… amicably. (:
(Also, great work finding Lazarus’s postbox out of all those metal boxes, my little adventurers. συγχαρητήρια)
