After the encounter with Athilla and his mercenaries, you gathered up all their weapons and went back into Port Gardan to see if you could pawn them off for some sweet sweet sovereigns.

You find a pawn shop in the Dwarven Quarter. You choose the flashiest looking one, which turns out to be a blacksmith’s owned by a burly dwarf named Cham.

Cham’s shop also has a job board, where locals can ask for daring adventurers to do some tasks.

Stolen Heirloom

Bodyguards Needed

Easy Gold??? (Bilty stole this.)

The party stumbled into Portnoy at Cham’s Blacksmith.

They had a debate about whether they should allow Portnoy into the party. Gentil is a big fan of Portnoy joining the party. Kowboi, however, doesn’t believe that Portnoy is a spellcaster. So he uses his thaumaturgy to make a huge mess at the shop. Cham gets mad and kicks him out. Then, Portnoy creates a fog, which infuriates Cham even further because he doesn’t allow vaping at his shop. Eventually, they convince him to let Kowboi back in.

They haggle over the price of the three weapons they looted from Athilla and his boys.

They end up selling it for 19gp and 1sp. The market price was 25gp. Cham tried to buy it for 15gp.

Bilty signed for it, calling himself “Hogwit Liam III’d”

The party noticed the job board and picked “Stolen Heirloom.”

This was posted by a nobleman named Gilderoy Blaxton (retconned from Smithbrain).

Blaxton lives in the Western Quarter, which is a rich neighbourhood. The biggest difference is that buildings are made from red bricks instead of just planks.

On their way, they realize that they don’t really know where exactly Blaxton lives. They decide to ask at a bookshop.

The bookshop is ran by the illusive M’am. She manages to sell Gentil a copy of the Legend of Ross & Rachel. Bilty briefly stole this from Gentil and read the ending. Then, as he was putting the book back in Gentil’s backpocket, he got caught.

M’am also told the party where the Blaxton Estate is.

The estate isn’t too far from M’am’s Bookshop. It is surrounded by tall white walls, adorned with golden accents. They knock on the gate and meet Saga, an ex-paladin.

Saga views adventurers like the party with disdain. She doesn’t respect them, thinking herself above all these low-experienced newbies. Yet she has to put up with them, because Blaxton won’t stop hiring them.

Saga leads the group into the estate proper, while Gentil attempts to flirt with her.

The inside of the estate is huge. There is a large staircase and Blaxton appears on top of it.

Blaxton is an eccentric man, wearing a purple/black suit and dark black hair with a purple accent going through it. He also sports a moustache and a goatee.

Blaxton explains to them that a very important family heirloom was stolen and that if it wasn’t found as soon as possible the curse would end us all.

He doesn’t go into detail about that though.

He promises 200gp to each adventurer if the heirloom, which turns out to be a sword, is returned.

The party starts investigating the crime scene. The sword was held at an underground vault, whose gate can only be opened via a special ritual using a specific kind of magic. Upon magical investigation, Gentil noticed that the pedestal upon which the sword was held is now engulfed in some dark energy that makes him feel despair like he never felt before. Oh, there also was two people there at least, one of whom was violently repulsed away from the pedestal as they tried to touch the sword.

Upstairs is a broken window. Everyone except for Gentil try to jump through the broken window. Everyone except for Bilty cut themselves. Before they do that, however, they notice that there is traces of blood on the glass. They take a sample of it. They also notice that the glass was broken from the outside.

Once they’re outside, they noticed that there are traces of blood on the blades of grass below, indicating that the person who cut themselves did so on their way out.

Portnoy is able to use magic to track the scent of the blood. The party will start their journey tomorrow, after they get better equipment from Cham, thanks to a voucher signed by Blaxton.

At Cham’s, the party sees an exasperated Cham. Nevertheless once they produce Blaxton’s voucher, Cham obliges. He promises a light armor for Bilty, enchanted arrows for Kowboi, plate armor for Gentil, a bow and chainmail armor for Aurelia, and light mage armor for Portnoy.
