9. King’s Eye Correctional Facility

‘It’s the sixth day since you’ve arrived at Bridgeport. You have somehow got Glittereye in prison, which is either great news or terrible news. You don’t really know how that’s going to work out for you yet.

After spending the rest of yesterday going around the King’s Eye, Aurelia and Gentil now have a better understanding of its layout. First, the King’s Eye is divided into three different segments. The people working there call these the Eyelid, the Iris, and the Pupil. As you go deeper into the keep, the level of surveillance and security increases. Since they’re fresh recruits, however, they haven’t been able to get into every nook and cranny.

They have, however, figured out the following details about the King’s Eye.

-       This is a heptagonal keep. It’s four storeys tall. The prisoners are kept at the central segment, called the Pupil.

-       Information about the inmates are kept at the Iris. It is not possible to access this information from the Eyelid. However, if you so desired, you could make a request.

-       Alternatively, all the information is kept at the Archive Room at the Western Wing of the Iris. It’s heavily guarded.

-       You were able to see what the overall structure of the Pupil was like through the backwall of Glittereye’s cell. It is a circular hall, as tall as the keep itself. At the center of this hall is a tower, again as tall as the keep itself. At equal intervals all around this tower are small windows, through which one can look outside without being able to be seen by those without. And on the walls of this hall are the backwalls of the inmates' cells. Yes, from this tower, one can surveil all the inmates, while the inmates have no clear indication of whether they are being surveilled.

In addition, you have made some new friends, in case you’ve forgotten.

-       Jips, the shapeshifter!

-       Ghudrun “The Sizzles” Ghaldarim and his crew The Burners.

-       Zemeck

-       Officer Grant Standstill

-       And a few other possible friends.

As you discuss these issues, Saga comes in. She looks a bit tired. If you are especially perceptive, you can see that her eyes – normally a bright hazel – are much darker than usual. Theldra seems to be a bit on edge after Saga enters the Bad Poets Society.

If the party mentions the rumours about paladins rounding up the peasantry, Saga will inquire whether they’re wearing any particular sigils or crests. They are, in fact, wearing the crest of the Dawnwardens – a rising sun, surrounded by Seven Stars.

This news really bothers Saga. She knows that these people are not paladins at all, but the Forsworn. But what’s truly bothersome is the fact that the Forsworn are still wearing their old uniforms. Normally when the Dawnwardens cast off the Forsworn, they confiscate all their items. Something strange is going on.
