1 - Observations

The newcomers have been successfully introduced into the facility. As expected, they did not question the validity of their surroundings and accepted what they saw as facts. This is in accordance with the behaviours of previous newcomers.

The current party consists of a barbarian-type warrior and three spellcasters, a cleric-type, warlock-type, and a bard-type. In order, their names are Flagnaar Brewbelly (Dwarf), Funda Blessedbones (Kalashtar), Victor Greenbottle (Changeling, ne human), and Barclaya Goodrow (Half-Elf).

Upon waking up in the facility, Flagnaar displayed some hostility. However, this was directed mostly towards the facility itself and less to the other newcomers. Their initial conversation revolved around their origins. All except Funda appear to be from the Elsewhere known as “Faerun,” while Funda is from “Athean.” The newcomers have not necessarily confirmed that they come from alternate Elsewheres, but they heavily suspect this to be the case.

Flagnaar is an aggressive type and he enjoys leading the charge. All of the doors in phase 1 of the installation have been opened by him, in fact.

Flagnaar also attempted to open the portcullis to phase 2 before the newcomers were able to locate the key to the exit. As designed, the portcullis reacted to Flagnaar by turning itself extremely cold, causing minor frostbite damage on Flagnaar’s hands. Ever so kind, Funda helped Flagnaar by healing him. Strange, considering that this action caused her to spend an entire spell slot.

The newcomers have also seen the sights through all available viewports as well. Their reactions have varied. First, they believed that the window to the infinite forest was truly where they were. Their sense of directionality was challenged by the window to the Silver Spires. As expected, they attempted to communicate with the dryad of the Garden, but to no avail.

Lastly, we believe that their reaction to the window to the Unimagined City was particularly humorous. They all just… got lost staring through the window, completely appalled.

The newcomers are pretty competent when it comes to combat. Their first enemy, designation Forlorn Bugbear, almost managed to kill them all. In fact, Funda was knocked unconscious. Curiously, she responded to almost dying by saying that she had “died before.” In fact, she was surprised that the other newcomers hadn’t died yet.

The Forlron Bugbear was slain by a coordinated effort. The final blow was a Witch Bolt cast by Victor.

The second encounter was the one with the designation “Just a Lot of Badgers.” Here, the party was attacked by nine regular badgers. These were dispatched with ease, mostly due to the area of effect spell cast by Funda.

Last encounter featured the creature with the designation “Friendly Fey Dragon,” who referred to herself as Clover. The party managed to end this encounter amicably, although Flagnaar had to spend considerable willpower to resist his urges for violence. The party recovered the key to the portcullis from Clover. As they left the room, Clover dissipated, like all other Designates.

Our observations will continue.
